Hi there! Thanks for stopping by đź‘‹
Are you actively looking for a new opportunity? Or just checking the market? Well… you might just be in the right place!
About the Role
We're looking for an exceptional Product Manager to own the payments experience for Lightspeed's flagship hospitality platform. In this role, you'll navigate the complexity of payment infrastructure while obsessing over the human experience of paying for a meal. Whether it's enabling a server to split a check across multiple cards or ensuring a guest can tap and go in seconds, you'll build solutions that make the checkout moment reliable and effortless.
You'll lead a product team that includes design, content, user experience research, engineering, and quality specialists to create payment experiences that help restaurants thrive. You’ll do this by:
1. Deeply understanding how payment flows impact restaurant operations, from the server taking payment tableside to the manager reconciling at day's end.
2. Building a comprehensive product strategy that addresses the full payment journey—from payment method setup and selection through settlement and reconciliation.
3. Collaborating with designers to make the complexity of “payments” feel natural and intuitive for both restaurant staff and guests.
4. Navigating the technical complexity of payment systems, including working with our Financial Services team and occasionally interfacing directly with processors and hardware partners.
5. Identifying opportunities to reduce payment friction through smart product decisions around retry strategies, error handling, and success optimization.
6. Staying current with payment trends and regulations across our global markets, ensuring K-Series remains competitive and compliant.
7. Leading discovery efforts to understand payment pain points across different restaurant types and geographies.
8. Building and maintaining relationships with Financial Services, Compliance, Legal, and Support teams to ensure smooth product delivery.
9. Defining success metrics and using data to continuously monitor and improve authorization rates, reduce failures, and optimize the checkout experience.
10. Managing the product development lifecycle from concept through launch and iteration, ensuring high-quality delivery.
You believe that the best payment experiences are seamless — they just work. You're excited by the challenge of turning complex systems into something simple and intuitive. And you know that every payment interaction is a chance to build trust with our customers.
Background and Experience
11. 4+ years of product management experience, with meaningful time spent on payment products or fintech solutions.
12. Demonstrated success building customer-facing products where user experience was paramount to success.
13. Hands-on experience with payment processing concepts including authorization, capture, settlement, and reconciliation.
14. Understanding of payment security standards, compliance requirements, and how they translate to product decisions.
15. Experience collaborating with external partners, vendors, or platform providers to deliver integrated solutions.
Strengths and Skills
16. Technical acumen to engage meaningfully with engineers on system architecture and implementation details.
17. Design partnership skills—you work hand-in-hand with designers to explore solutions from first principles.
18. Outstanding written communication, particularly in documenting requirements, decisions, and context for your team.
19. Excellent stakeholder management across teams and departments.
20. Proactive ownership mindset—you identify problems before they're escalated and drive solutions without being asked.
21. Collaborative leadership style that brings out the best in your squad and cross-functional partners.
How You’ll Know You’re Successful if:
22. Your squad operates with clarity and purpose, understanding how their work connects to restaurant success.
23. Payment metrics show continuous improvement—higher success rates, faster processing times, fewer support tickets, and happier customers.
24. Restaurant staff find payments easier and more reliable, while guests enjoy smooth, modern checkout experiences.
