Radar Product Owner (m/f/d) – Shape the Future of Maritime Sensor Systems This position is being filled as part of a project-based permanent role at a leading technology company in the defense and security industry. Why this role is particularly exciting: This position combines technical expertise, product ownership, and international collaboration. The Product Owner will serve as the central interface between the Kiel office and the development team in Lisbon, shape the modernization of a complex radar software landscape, and define the product vision for military maritime systems. The combination of legacy modernization, agile product development, and cross-functional management makes this role both challenging and exceptionally versatile. These are your responsibilities: - Join a great team of tech enthusiasts working from Lisbon as their Kiel-onsite Liaison. - Define and communicate the product vision for military maritime radar signal analysis software - Prioritize the teams backlog and coordinate day-to-day work between developers, tech leads, QA and stakeholders- - Plan and maintain roadmaps/story maps, surface dependencies and manage incremental value delivery within 3-month iteration cycles - Drive strong cross team collaboration with you neighboring development teams and product owner across locations to align priorities and remove impediments - Lead legacy modernization efforts (monolith decomposition) in close collaboration with tech leads - Act as the onsite Kiel anchor for the external Portugal delivery team; travel to Portugal approx. once every 12 quarters These are the requirements: - Several years of hands-on software development experience in agile environments - Proven experience as a Product Owner or in product leadership with backlog prioritization and release planning - Strong track record of cross team collaboration and working closely with product managers and distributed teams - Practical experience in legacy modernization and working with software architects on monolith decomposition - Ability to manage multi-project contexts, surface/manage dependencies and communicate risks clearly - Familiarity with Confluence, Jira, MS Office and Teams; DOORS or Jazz are a plus - Fluent English; German beneficial; willing to travel periodically to Portugal Attractive benefits for candidates: - Option for future conversion to a permanent position at the client company, subject to suitability and project progress - Modern work environment with highly specialized teams in Germany and Portugal - Hybrid work and flexible work arrangements - Regular travel to Portugal for close collaboration with the delivery team - Training & development in a technologically demanding environment (radar, signal processing, legacy modernization) - International setup with English-speaking teams and collaboration across multiple locations - Stable employer in an innovation-driven high-tech industry
