Project Development Manager | Dortmund | BESS | Hybrid
We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Project Development Manager to lead the development of projects from early concept through to execution readiness. Based in Dortmund, this role will be responsible for identifying opportunities, coordinating internal and external stakeholders, managing feasibility and permitting processes, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development of new projects from initial concept, feasibility, and planning through to handover for execution
Identify and evaluate new project opportunities, including market analysis, site assessments, and risk evaluation
Manage feasibility studies, business cases, budgets, and timelines
Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, finance, legal, operations) and external stakeholders (authorities, consultants, partners, landowners)
Oversee permitting and approval processes, ensuring compliance with local and federal German regulations
Prepare and present project proposals, progress reports, and investment recommendations to senior stakeholders
Manage third‑party consultants and service providers
Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies
Support contract negotiations and support project handover to construction or implementation teams
Your Profile
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, Real Estate, Energy, or a related field
Proven experience (typically 3–7+ years) in project development, project management, or a comparable role
Strong understanding of project lifecycles, financial modelling, and risk management
Experience working with planning authorities and regulatory frameworks in Germany
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Fluent German (written and spoken) is required
Confident user of MS Office, project management tools, and reporting systems
