Responsibilities:
1. Lead activities in data-driven material / process development in surface engineering.
2. Develop and optimize processes for adhesion promotion in multi-material interfaces, esp. polymer-metal or polymer-polymer interfaces.
3. Analyze and interpret data to guide material development decisions, using advanced statistical and data mining techniques.
4. Leverage physics-based modelling and AI tools to predict material behavior and performance.
5. Collaborate with interdisciplinary and international teams to achieve project goals.
6. Present project results to internal/external partners, senior leadership, and diverse audiences, while actively driving new project acquisition efforts.
Qualifications:
7. PhD or equivalent in surface engineering, materials science, chemistry, physics, chemical or mechanical engineering, or a related field.
8. Proven expertise in data-driven material or process development, e.g. data-driven modeling and/or use of machine learning methods for material/process development, demonstrated through projects, publications, spin-offs, or consulting assignments
9. Proven knowledge in the fields of surface engineering, especially coating technologies (e.g. paint technology, PE-CVD, PVD etc.).
10. Experiences in designing multi-material interfaces, adhesion and bonding.
11. Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Julia, C/C++, and familiarity with SQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Flask, Azure, or other cloud technologies.
12. Ability to work independently in data analysis and physics-based modeling.
