Role - Civil Project Manager (Site based)
Location - Bremerhaven, Germany
Candidate must be German and English speaking
The Civil Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of civil engineering and construction projects on-site. This role oversees day‑to‑day site operations, coordinates subcontractors and suppliers, ensures compliance with design and safety standards, and drives the project to completion on time, within budget, and to the required quality
* Manage the on-site execution of civil engineering works in line with project plans, drawings, and specifications.
* Coordinate daily activities for site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
* Monitor progress and adjust short-term plans to maintain programme targets.
* Conduct regular site inspections to ensure work is carried out to the correct quality standards.
Health, Safety & Environmental Management
* Ensure site activities comply with company HSE policies, CDM regulations, and relevant legislation.
* Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and site inductions.
* Identify and manage risks, putting control measures in place to maintain a safe working environment.
* Maintain accurate health and safety documentation and incident records.
Commercial & Financial Control
* Assist with budget management, cost forecasting, and identifying potential cost savings or risks.
* Verify subcontractor claims, variations, and progress reports.
* Support procurement activities and maintain positive supplier relationships.
Stakeholder Management
* Liaise with clients, designers, local authorities, and third parties to ensure smooth delivery.
* Provide clear and timely progress updates to the Project Manager and senior stakeholders.
* Address concerns promptly and professionally to maintain strong project relationships.
Quality Assurance
* Implement and maintain quality management processes on site.
* Ensure compliance with technical standards, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and documentation requirements.
* Oversee snagging, defect management, and final handover processes.
Documentation & Reporting
* Maintain accurate daily site records, including diaries, progress photos, permits, and logs.
* Prepare and submit weekly progress reports, KPIs, and risk assessments.
* Ensure all project documentation is kept updated and available for audits.
Experience needed
Proven experience in civil engineering or infrastructure project delivery.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
Excellent leadership, communication, and team‑coordination skills.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple site priorities.
Competent in site management software, MS Office, and reporting tools.
