Senior Project Manager / Research Scientist – Trustworthy Digital Health
Fraunhofer Institute for Cognitive Systems IKS (Safe Intelligence) conducts research to ensure the reliability and safety of disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing. The role focuses on managing a large, complex research project involving various stakeholders and developing AI models for clinical predictions.
Responsibilities
* Manage the project lifecycle, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and stakeholder communication.
* Develop and monitor project plans, schedules, and budgets.
* Aquire projects for the Trustworthy Digital Health Team by writing proposals and developing project ideas.
* Apply knowledge of medical AI to project work and engage in professional exchanges with colleagues.
Qualifications
* PhD in computer science, mathematics, medicine, or a related field; alternatively a Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant work experience.
* Experience managing complex projects with diverse stakeholders; experience with large EU projects is a plus.
* Experience in grant and proposal writing.
* Knowledge in ML/AI methods and statistical analysis for healthcare applications.
* Professional programming experience (e.g., Python, C/C++).
* Hands‑on experience in developing software as a medical device and associated regulations (MDR, EU AI Act, FDA) is considered a plus.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills.
* Highly motivated, independent, with critical‑thinking mindset.
* Very good language skills in German (C1) and English (C1).

Weekly working time: 39 hours. The position is also available on a part‑time basis and is limited to 2 years.
