Hauptaufgaben Plans, coordinates, and leads the receiving, unloading, and storing of supplies considering such facts as easy accessibility, prevention of damage or deterioration, proper rotation, etc. Leads special and regular inventories. Compares results of two-inventory teams counting the same items and outbalance inventory. Locates errors or discrepancies and takes corrective action. Plans and establishes daily pickup schedule and monthly issue schedules for permanent and training units and distributes accordingly. Performs a variety of functions in connection with ration control activities for both, permanent and training units, with frequent untimely changes. Advises and coordinates with support units and Class I personnel changes in schedules, procedures, special meals etc. Advises units orally or in writing on Class I support while training in this area. Leads the work of lower grade personnel in receiving and inspecting deliveries of Class I subsistence. Check a variety of food items, compares items against transaction documents for correctness of nomenclature and quantity, checks for breakage, spoilage, etc. Notes discrepancies on pertinent transaction documents, signs for proper receipt. Checks items being assembled by storekeepers for issue to users as to correct quantity and type of items. Provides initial documentation for Preparation of Over-Short & Damage Report to be forwarded to appropriate supply agencies. Maintains accurate accounts and reports for subsistence items issued and received. Input correct data into computer data bank and make necessary computer actions to post to proper records and data files. Ensure Subsistence Support for special operations, major unit deployments, Culinary Arts, Connelly Competition, NATO and other special programs, review requisitions, supporting documents and referenced material to determine actual supply requirements. Leads supply activities assigned to ensure they are conducted in accordance with established procedures. Monitors flow of documents; based on short falls or recurring errors and discrepancies detected, modifies individual steps in the document flow to decrease processing time and eliminate sources of error. Plans distribution of storage space on a long-term basis under consideration of quantity and type of items, special storage directives and loading/unloading facilities at the warehouse. Inspects area of responsibility regularly for condition, adherence to safety regulations, space and proper storage of the items. Initiates regular re-warehousing. Regularly inspects certain items that must be tested on a recurring basis. Handles major difficulties and discrepancies concerning incoming items by coordinating with other sections. Responsible for all MHE used in the section. Coordinates with supervisor to obtain sufficient quantity of operating devices (e.g. hand carts, MHE, etc.), orders necessary equipment and arranges for inspection by motor pool. Informs supervisor of anticipated vacancies, increase in workload or other circumstances to obtain replacements, temporary help or additional staff. Informally recommends promotions, reassignments, or other status changes of assigned personnel, such as retention or release of probationary employees, step increases, and recognition of outstanding performance. Oversees attendance and leave, to include approval of leave for a few hours or for emergencies. Resolves simple informal complaints of employees and refers other to the supervisor. Gives on-the-job training for employees, broadening employee training and providing backup skills by cross training. Ensures all employees are properly trained on the AFMIS (Army Food Service Management Information System). Advises employees of the performance requirements of their positions and keeps them informed individually of their progress in meeting the requirements. Holds corrective interviews with employees and refers disciplinary problems to supervisor. Provides information to supervisor on performance, progress and training needs of employees and on behavior problems. Informs employees about the policies, procedures and goals of management as they relate to the work of the unit and changes thereto; and informs supervisor on employees' participation, suggestions, and reactions. Assures that subordinates are trained and fully comply with provisions of security regulations. Plans work schedules and sequence of operations on a weekly, project, or longer basis and assures flow and distribution of work, the expeditious handling of priority cases and the meeting of schedules and deadlines and requirements established by supervisor. Revises work schedules to meet changes in workload considering factors such as peak loads, availability of manpower, and processing time requirements. Plans for sufficient amount of supplies. Prepares workload and production reports as necessary and reports on highlights of operations and problems in meeting work schedules to supervisor. Ensures section works to zero backlog in materiel release orders and receipts on a daily basis. Assigns work among employees equitably. Breaks out tasks as necessary to provide new employees with the experience and training required to perform the work. Explains work requirements, methods and procedures as needed and answers technical questions about the work. Reviews work in progress or upon completion or spot checks work with subject to review, as deemed appropriate to assess the quality and quantity of work produced by each employee. Informs employees about the policies, procedures, and practices of management as they relate to the work of the unit. Frequently leads and conducts inspections in the entire storage area of cleanliness and proper storing of items. Checks individual items for proper condition and recommends corrective measures where items show damages or signs of deterioration (immediate issue of items, etc.). Tests firefighting equipment for operating condition. Checks for safety hazards. Performs other duties as assigned.
