Project Manager - Solar & BESS
Location: Germany – remote with occasional travel to Berlin

MDE Group are supporting a renewable energy developer and EPC contractor in recruiting for a Project Manager as their pipeline continues to expand. Their expertise lies in delivering large-scale solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) that contribute to Germany's Energiewende and the transition to a cleaner energy future.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Solar Project Manager to lead the delivery of utility-scale renewable energy projects. The ideal candidate will excel in managing complex, large-scale projects and coordinating with diverse stakeholders. A proven track record in delivering utility-scale solar and energy storage projects is essential.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Oversee the full lifecycle of large-scale solar PV and BESS projects, from ready-to-build (RTB) through to commissioning.
* Collaborate with stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth project delivery.
* Manage grid connection processes, including liaising with Transmission System Operators (TSOs) such as 50Hertz, Amprion, TenneT, and TransnetBW, as well as local Distribution System Operators (DSOs).
* Plan and optimise logistics and resource allocation to ensure efficient project execution.
* Lead contractor selection, negotiate EPC contracts, and supervise on-site construction activities.
* Monitor and manage project budgets, control expenditures, and provide financial reporting.
* Ensure compliance with German health, safety, and environmental standards, including DIN and ISO certifications.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure project alignment and smooth implementation.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
* Demonstrated experience managing utility-scale solar PV and energy storage projects, ideally 50 MW or more.
* Strong familiarity with grid connection agreements and processes, including EEG, NABEG, and associated standards.
* Expertise in logistics and resource planning for large-scale infrastructure projects.
* Hands-on experience managing EPC contracts and supervising construction teams.
* Proven ability to handle large CAPEX budgets with precision and accountability.
* In-depth knowledge of German health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Exceptional organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
