Our Clinical Next-Generation Sequencing teams help expand access to groundbreaking genomic testing. Dedicated to making next-generation sequencing (NGS) more available to clinical researchers and patients, we focus on oncology, reproductive health research, and custom menu services. Our colleagues offer easily adoptable, end-to-end NGS technologies that provide rapid turnaround times, targeted menus, and actionable insights. Your work will drive NGS adoption where it matters most.
Location:
This role requires the Account Manager to be based in Bavaria or Baden-Würtemberg; candidates not currently residing should be willing to relocate within three months. This position is home office–based.

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Senior Account Manager (m/f/d) to drive the growth and adoption of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) solutions within the clinical diagnostics market. In this role, you will work closely with hospitals and clinical diagnostic laboratories, supporting the expansion of Ion Torrent NGS platforms across oncology, immunology, microbiology, genetics, and emerging clinical applications. Your work will help broaden access to innovative genomic testing and support improved diagnostic and research outcomes.
A Day in the Life:
You will be responsible for identifying and developing new sales opportunities, managing the full sales cycle from initial prospecting through deal closure. You will create and execute strategic account and territory business plans, collaborate with internal teams, and build strong partnerships with customers and collaborators to ensure successful technology adoption.
What to expect:
* Identify and develop sales opportunities within hospitals and clinical diagnostics laboratories
* Manage the complete sales process from lead generation to closing
* Develop and execute strategic business and territory plans
* Collaborate with internal sales, marketing, and cross-functional teams
* Drive adoption of NGS technologies across applied markets
* Maintain CRM data, sales reports, and accurate forecasts
* Research market trends and identify new customer and application opportunities
Keys to Success:
Education
* Graduate qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant scientific discipline, preferably molecular biology
Experience
* Several years of sales experience within research, healthcare, diagnostics, or clinical markets
* Proven success selling diagnostics or solution-based products
* Prior experience in Molecular Biology, Next Generation Sequencing, or Oncology is desirable
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
* Strong commercial skills with the ability to position technical solutions as effective investments
* Proficiency with modern user interfaces, document and presentation preparation, and report writing
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English
