Overview:
We are currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer / Site Manager to oversee the delivery of safety-critical systems on a major pharmaceutical site in Germany. This is a hands-on leadership role, ensuring the successful coordination and implementation of fire alarm, public address (PA), and gas detection systems within a highly regulated environment. You will work closely with project managers, HSE, and subcontractors to drive progress, quality, and safety across all site operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work closely with Project Managers and Operations Teams to implement key technical packages.
* Manage and coordinate on-site installation of BMS, fire alarm, PA (PAVA), and gas detection systems.
* Lead Lean meetings, permit processes, and day-to-day subcontractor management.
* Oversee and monitor the quality and performance of external service providers.
* Collaborate with HSE teams to ensure compliance with site and corporate safety standards.
* Clarify technical specifications in line with client quality requirements.
* Support and manage subcontractor services, ensuring smooth execution and accountability.
* Participate in daily site meetings and report on project status, risks, and progress.
* Support the client in ensuring system availability and operational reliability.
* Create and manage site documentation, including snag lists, early warnings, and progress reports.
* Provide technical guidance to on-site technicians and subcontractors.
* Deliver training to internal and external staff where needed.
* Report regularly to the Project Manager and overall Construction Manager.
* Ensure only VCA or SCC16/SCC17 certified personnel are granted site access.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Construction Manager / Site Manager on complex, safety-critical projects.
* Strong background in MEP systems, particularly in fire detection, PAVA, and gas monitoring.
* Experience in subcontractor coordination, quality assurance, and site leadership.
* Familiarity with Lean practices, site permitting, and safety procedures.
* Comfortable operating in highly regulated environments (e.g. pharmaceutical, biotech, industrial automation).
* Strong communication and team leadership skills.
* Skilled in documentation, reporting, and site progress tracking.
* Fluent in German and English (C1/C2 level required).
* Valid VCA or SCC16/SCC17 certification is mandatory.
Desirable:
* Background in pharmaceutical or industrial facility projects.
* Familiarity with tools like Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software.
* Technical degree in electrical, mechanical, or automation engineering is a plus.
