Product Owner – Grid Integration (Battery Energy Storage)

A rapidly growing European energy technology company developing advanced battery energy storage systems (BESS) is looking to hire a Product Owner – Grid Integration to join its product and engineering organisation. This role sits at the intersection of power systems engineering, grid compliance, and product development, ensuring large-scale battery systems integrate seamlessly into the electricity grid and comply with German regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in shaping the next generation of grid-connected storage solutions supporting the energy transition across Europe.
The Role As Product Owner – Grid Integration, you will own the grid integration components of the company’s battery storage product portfolio, working closely with engineering, product management and external development partners. Your focus will be ensuring systems meet technical grid requirements, regulatory standards and customer needs, while continuously improving how the product interacts with the electricity grid.
Key Responsibilities • Own and develop the grid integration aspects of battery storage products • Ensure compliance with German and European grid codes (VDE-AR-N 4105 / 4110 / 4120) • Work closely with engineering teams on system architecture and integration requirements • Coordinate product development with external development partners and suppliers • Translate grid requirements and regulatory changes into product features • Support technical discussions with customers, grid operators and certification bodies • Drive improvements around communication interfaces and grid interaction • Collaborate with product, service and application engineering teams across the organisation
Your Background • Experience in grid integration, power systems engineering, EMS or energy system product management • Strong understanding of German grid regulations and grid connection requirements • Experience with battery energy storage systems, PV systems, inverters or power electronics • Knowledge of Energy Management Systems (EMS) • Familiarity with communication protocols such as Modbus, IEC 104, MQTT or OPC UA • Comfortable working between engineering teams, product management and external stakeholders • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Power Engineering or similar
Fluency in German is a must.
