Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to deliver a 230kV high‑voltage substation supporting a major data center development in Berlin. This role oversees full project lifecycle management—from design and permitting through construction, energisation, and commissioning—ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant electrical infrastructure.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in high‑voltage substations, utility coordination, and mission‑critical environments. This is a hybrid role requiring both on‑site leadership and remote project governance.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Delivery & Execution

* Coordinate design development across engineering disciplines (HV, MV, LV, protection, telecoms, grounding, and civil/structural).
* Ensure all work complies with relevant German and EU electrical standards, utility requirements, and data center performance criteria.
* Oversee procurement, tendering, contract negotiation, and vendor performance.
* Manage construction activities, installation works, FAT/SAT processes, energisation planning, and commissioning.
Stakeholder & Regulatory Management
* Liaise with the local Transmission System Operator (TSO) and utility providers on grid‑connection requirements, permits, inspections, and energisation approvals.
* Coordinate with data center design, mechanical/electrical teams, and external consultants to ensure seamless integration with on‑site power infrastructure.
* Engage with authorities on building permits, safety compliance, and environmental regulations.
Risk, Safety & Quality
* Identify and mitigate project risks across technical, schedule, cost, and regulatory dimensions.
* Ensure full compliance with high‑voltage safety protocols, switching procedures, and German work‑safety legislation.
* Oversee quality control processes, testing standards, and documentation per substation commissioning requirements.
Budget & Reporting
* Develop, track, and control project budget, cash flow, and forecasting.
* Report regularly to senior leadership on progress, risks, and milestones.
* Maintain accurate project documentation, scheduling, and status reports.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
* Lead cross‑functional teams of engineers, construction managers, contractors, and commissioning specialists.
* Facilitate coordination between site teams and remote stakeholders in a hybrid working model.
* Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and high technical standards.
Required Skills & Experience:
Technical Expertise
* Proven experience delivering high‑voltage substation projects (110kV, 220kV, 230kV, or above) .
* Strong understanding of:
* Transformer systems
* GIS/AIS equipment
* Protection & control schemes
* SCADA, automation, and grid‑communication systems
* Grounding design and fault-current considerations
* HV cable routing and interconnection

* Certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) beneficial.
Soft Skills
* Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
* Ability to manage complex timelines, competing priorities, and cross‑functional teams.
* Analytical, detail‑oriented, and solutions‑driven mindset.
