Site Project Manager | Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) | Bavaria / Southern Germany
We are partnering with a leading international renewable / energy-storage developer to deliver a large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) facility in southern Germany — in the Bavaria region (or nearby). This facility will contribute to grid stability and support Germany’s clean-energy transition. We are seeking an experienced Site Project Manager to own on-site delivery across construction, installation, commissioning, and hand-over phases.
Location: Bavaria / Southern Germany (specific site to be confirmed)
Contract Term: 12 months (with potential extension)
Start Date: Immediate (subject to permitting & start schedules)
Languages: English essential (German desirable but not required)
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee on-site activities throughout the BESS project lifecycle — from groundwork and civil/structural works, through battery installation, grid connection, to commissioning.
* Manage site schedules, procurement, suppliers/subcontractors, budgets and implement robust HSE and risk-management practices.
* Coordinate with internal teams, grid operators, local authorities and subcontractors to ensure compliance and timely execution.
* Serve as the on-site interface with developers, stakeholders, permitting authorities, and grid operator — ensure clear communication and smooth project progress.
Essential Skills / Experience:
* Proven track record managing large-scale infrastructure projects (ideally BESS / electrical storage / energy infrastructure / grid-connected projects) — or civil/mechanical project management + interest in energy storage.
* Understanding of electrical infrastructure, battery installation, grid-connection requirements, site logistics; familiarity with permitted work in Germany is a plus.
* Experience with subcontractors, procurement, scheduling, budgets and on-site safety management.
* Excellent leadership, coordination, communication skills; fluent in English (German is a plus) and ability to liaise with German authorities and contractors.
* EU passport (or right to work in Germany) required.
