You will work on practical solutions for climate-neutral heat supply. In this project, you will investigate how industrial waste heat can be used efficiently and integrated into municipal heat supply. Together with us, you will develop model concepts that can be used directly in real planning processes.
Be part of change
* Evaluate time series on waste heat sources, temperatures and heat demand profiles and prepare them for modelling
* Research and evaluate suitable technologies for thermal energy storage (short- and long-term storage) and industrial heat pumps
* Develop an energy system model (e.g. in Python) to map waste heat utilisation
* Simulate various scenarios with combinations of direct use, storage and heat pumps and compare efficiency, costs and CO2 savings
* Prepare your results in the form of graphics and reports for municipal heat planning and internal project documentation
What you contribute
must have:
* Degree in energy, process, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering or a comparable field of study
* Fundamentals of thermodynamics/energy technology
* Experience with programming and/or modelling, ideally with Python
* Independent, structured and confident communicator in German and English
nice to have:
* Knowledge of energy system analysis, heat pumps, thermal storage or techno-economic evaluation
