Title: Custodian/Facilities Specialist/Driver

Location: CYC Sidney Epstein Center at 3415 W. 13th Pl. (Chicago, IL)
Schedule: 10:30a - 7:00p; Monday - Friday; schedule varies depending on program needs
Purpose: The Custodian/Facilities Specialist/Driver provides daily cleaning and maintenance of assigned site/sites and grounds, and to perform tasks as directed by the Childcare Director or Center Director.
Responsibilities:
Daily Tasks
1. Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; Empty all waste baskets
2. Sweep, mop and disinfect floors; Vacuum Rugs
3. Clean and disinfect toilets, urinals, sinks and mirrors using established practices and procedure
4. Check hand soap, paper towels and tissue dispensers
5. Replace light bulbs
6. Clean baseboards, air vent, light fixtures
7. Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surfaces floors, vacuum, and shampoo carpets pressure washers, high-speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
8. Spot wash walls
9. May shovel and remove snow and ice from designated areas such as sidewalks, entryways, and grounds work (ie: Grass)
10. Monitor and report needs for building or equipment repairs
Driving Responsibilities
11. During school year pick up youth from various community schools and deliver to Center.
12. Work with Program Manager to create a transportation schedule
13. Along with Program Manager establish relationship with school personnel
14. Manage the cleanliness of vans weekly
15. Monitor the vans for routine and emergency maintenance and repairs
16. This position requires 15-20% of your time to be dedicated to driving between the hours of 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM for pick up and drop off of children, using the agency’s van. Flexibility is key, as driving hours may vary based on operational needs.

17. High School Diploma or GED is required
18. At least 1-2 years of related experience in cleaning and maintenance
19. Valid drivers license in Illinois
20. Must pass DMV and criminal background check
21. Ability to climb ladders
22. Ability to travel between various CYC sites
23. Skill in using cleaning products and equipment
24. Take classes as required in cleaning methods and techniques, new products
25. Helpful
26. Basic computer skills
27. Bilingual language ability is a plus (Spanish-speaking)
28. Knowledge of health, fire and safety codes
