Master thesis on bacterial expression of metalloproteins for the sustainable enzymatic production of aldehydes

The job We are seeking a highly motivated master student to work on metalloproteins that convert small molecules carboxylates to aldehydes. The focus of the project will be on the identification, expression and purification of these redox-active enzymes, in the context of sustainable production of industrially-relevant substrates. Your tasks Literature and market research to select the most promising enzymes for the production of aldehydes from carboxylates. Cloning of genes in expression vectors. Heterologous production and purification of enzymes in bacteria. Genetic code expansion and click-chemistry. Presentation of results in group meetings. The position to prepare the Master's thesis is limited to 6 months and can be combined with a HiWi contract up to 40 hours/month. It will be supervised at the site in Leipzig.
