(Senior) Category Manager Logistics Group Procurement
About the Role
We are creating a new, strategically critical role: (Senior) Category Manager - Logistics (Linehaul, First & Last Mile). This position will define and drive the global vision, strategy, and execution for our most critical transport categories across the GLS network, with a clear primary focus on Linehaul and a secondary scope covering First & Last Mile .
Being part of our Group Procurement team you are operating in a highly complex, international environment. You will collaborate with a broad range of senior stakeholders to transform and optimize our transport procurement landscape. This is a unique opportunity to build a category from the ground up and shape its long-term impact on our business.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and implement a global category strategy for Linehaul, while establishing strategic direction for First & Last Mile
* Develop a clear vision and roadmap, prioritizing Linehaul optimization and leveraging synergies across transport categories
* Drive end-to-end category management, including sourcing, supplier selection, and performance management
* Lead global negotiations and strategic supplier partnerships, with a focus on Linehaul carriers and key transport providers
* Ensure alignment between global strategy and regional execution, balancing standardization with local market needs
* Navigate and influence a complex stakeholder landscape across functions, regions, and senior leadership levels
* Identify and deliver cost optimization, service improvement, and network efficiency initiatives
* Introduce and scale best-in-class procurement practices, governance, and tools
* Embed risk management, compliance, and sustainability into category strategies
Your Profile
* More than 8 years' experience in transportation/logistics procurement, with a strong focus on Linehaul; exposure to First & Last Mile is a plus
* Proven track record in building and executing global category management in complex, matrix organizations
* Strong strategic and conceptual thinking, combined with hands-on execution capabilities
* Demonstrated success in senior stakeholder management and influencing at the executive level
* Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills in a global context
* Ability to operate effectively in a highly dynamic, international environment
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
* Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus
