About the Role:
We are supporting a respected client in the maritime sector who is looking to engage a Freelance Electrical Project Manager for major vessel refurbishment and newbuild projects. This is a technically focused role—ideal for professionals from an electrical engineering background, not production or general site management.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and coordinate all electrical engineering activities across complex shipyard projects
* Plan, manage, and oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of systems including:
* Power distribution
* Automation and control
* Navigation, lighting, and communication systems
* Liaise closely with clients, engineering teams, and classification societies.
* Ensure full compliance with maritime regulations and technical specifications
* Supervise subcontractors and ensure electrical integration aligns with other disciplines
* Maintain all documentation for handover, QA/QC, and regulatory approval
Requirements:
* Must have a background in electrical engineering —ideally degree qualified
* Experience managing electrical scopes in shipbuilding, ship repair, or offshore vessel projects
* Familiarity with marine standards, electrical design, and commissioning procedures
* Freelance / self-employed status (able to invoice in Germany)
* Fluent German (B2 or higher) – essential for client and on-site coordination
* EU work eligibility
