Rapiscan Systems is an industry leader in detection technology, providing cargo and vehicle inspection systems and services for ports, borders, military, high-threat facilities, and checkpoints to help customers combat terrorism, drug smuggling, illegal immigration, and trade fraud. Job Overview:
The Service Buyer is responsible for purchasing service spare parts for our Service Main Warehouses and direct drop shipments to customers. We are looking for a results-driven Strategic Buyer to strengthen our supplier base and drive continuous improvement across procurement operations. This role focuses on identifying improvement opportunities, setting up and monitoring supplier KPIs, and leading strategic initiatives to enhance inbound performance and supplier reliability.
Responsibilities
1. Purchase spare parts from both external and internal suppliers.
2. Liaise between operational planning, service managers, and suppliers.
3. Follow-up and expediting as required to ensure on-time delivery with the highest degree of transparency possible.
4. Identify improvement areas within the supplier base and procurement processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve delivery performance.
5. Lead strategic initiatives to optimize supplier portfolio, including supplier consolidation, onboarding of new partners, and risk mitigation strategies.
6. Arrange and follow up on direct deliveries (drop shipments) to high-profile customers.
7. Improve supplier relationships. Serve as primary day-to-day supplier contact for designated suppliers for scheduling and delivery of all purchased parts in support of all service needs.
8. Create a comprehensive supplier performance overview that evaluates suppliers based on quality, delivery times, and cost.
9. Resolve invoice discrepancies whether they are pricing, quantity, or receiving issues
Qualifications
Your Profile:
10. 3–5 years of experience in strategic procurement or supplier management.
11. Strong interpersonal skills with a positive, can-do attitude.
12. Effective planning and organizational skills.
13. Process-oriented working style.
14. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English.
15. Proficient in MS Office products.
16. Familiarity with ERP systems and databases
17. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
