Become a part of our interdisciplinary team in the department Factory System Design and Production Planning at Fraunhofer IWU, where solutions for sustainable design and operation of factory systems are developed. We conduct research in the area of energy-efficient, flexible and sustainable production systems and use discrete-event simulation to gain data-driven insights into the energy- and production-oriented design of these.
What you will do
* Collaboration and development of simulation models,
* Simulative investigation of energetic issues in factory systems,
* Planning of experiments and execution of statistical analyses,
* Combination of simulation and data farming/data mining methods,
* Visualization of data and information with Python, KNIME, RapidMiner.
What you bring to the table
* A degree that has not yet been completed,
* High degree of enthusiasm and initiative,
* Interest in methods related to digital planning methods of factories and production,
* Good analytical skills and problem-solving abilities,
* Experience and enthusiasm in sustainability and energy efficiency in manufacturing,
* Experience in:
o Must: Material flow simulation (e.g. Siemens Tecnomatix Plant Simulation),
o Should: Experience in data analysis tools such as KNIME or RapidMiner,
o Could: Python (libraries such as pandas, numpy, matplotlib),
* The ability to independently delve into new subject matter, prepare and present results.
What you can expect
* The opportunity to actively contribute to the currently urgent issues in industrial production,
* Supervision and close connection to a young, interdisciplinary team,
* Personal development of hard and soft skills,
